Beata Fröhlich, PhD

Beata Fröhlich, PhD

Dr Beata Fröhlich, PhD, LLM (UCL), is Dean of MIUC and an international arbitration specialist. She is a fully qualified lawyer registered with the Bar Association and a visiting lecturer on the LLM programme at Centro de Estudios Garrigues in Madrid.

Before joining MIUC, she held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, focusing on international commercial and investment arbitration, and was a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School in New York.

She holds a PhD in Law and an LLM in Commercial Law from University College London, as well as an LLM from Vilnius University and postgraduate qualifications from King’s College London and the College of Law of England and Wales. Her further training includes the arbitration programme at the International Academy for Arbitration Law in Paris.

A recipient of the Swiss Arbitration Academy Grant, Dr Fröhlich earned the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Arbitration and the ArbP diploma from the Swiss Arbitration Academy. She has spoken at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg’s Post-Doctoral School and served as Regional Representative for YIAG (2016–2019).

She continues to publish on international commercial and investment arbitration and previously worked as an associate in the Dispute Resolution practice at Motieka & Audzevičius in the Baltics. She works in English, Russian, Polish, Spanish, and Lithuanian.

3. Key Projects and Research

– 2021. Arbitrator in a Moot hosted by Sciences Po project
https://www.crossmoot.com/ organised by a group of practitioners and academics
with a view of contributing to the education of the next generation of arbitration
lawyers. It is a competition for university teams with an exclusive focus on cross-
examination in international arbitration. Students attended various rounds of
hearings during which they will cross-examine each other’s witnesses and
experts. The Moot is hosted by Sciences Po and is overseen by a board or
directors composed of Diego P. Fernández Arroyo, Alexis Mourre, Yas
Banifatemi, Loukas Mistelis, Sophie Nappert, Franco Ferrari, Samaa Haridi, Gary
Bell, Jean Kalicki, and Eleonora Coelho.
