Gloria Nogueiras Redondo, PhD

PhD in Education
Universidad de Alcalá, Alcalá de Henares, Spain
Dr Gloria Nogueiras Redondo began her training with a BA in Teacher Training and a Bachelor in Educational Psychology at the University of Alcalá. Her academic journey proceeded with a Master’s Degree in Communication and Learning in the Digital Society at the University of Alcalá and a Master’s Degree in Psychological Intervention with Developmental Behavioural Modelling from the University of Valencia. Subsequently, she earned her PhD in Education from University of Alcalá, where she also enjoyed a four-year scholarship as researcher and as a teacher.
From a very young age, Gloria was attracted by learning and developmental processes, and started her professional career in the educational arena, both in formal and in informal contexts and covering all the ages and levels.
In 2011, her dive in Higher Education began. In this context, she has taught a wide variety of courses both to undergraduate, master, and doctoral students, with a particular focus on the fields of Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Research Methods.

Since 2017, Gloria has been part of MIUC, teaching several modules in the Bachelor in Psychology and in the Bachelor in Politics and International Relations, as well as a module on Research Methods addressed to various master programmes. Likewise, since then she is collaborating as a lecturer on several training programmes in Education addressed to University Professors at the University of Alcalá.

She strongly believes in the need to promote students’ self-direction, reflection, and critical thinking. A lifelong learner, apart from university qualifications, she has been trained in several areas related to her interest in supporting human beings in their life quests, including Gestalt Psychotherapy; Integrative and Transpersonal Psychotherapy; and Psycho physical Therapy.

As a researcher, Gloria has received various scholarships, has done three research stays in the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and has participated in varying research projects in the area of Education. In addition to giving several presentations at international conferences, she is also the author of various publications in both English and Spanish.

In her PhD thesis, she investigated the emotional experience over time of higher education students immersed in experiential and collaborative learning contexts as a way to understand the potential changes – epistemological, cognitive – that these students underwent throughout such learning experiences. After Gloria’s PhD defence, during the last years, she has had the great experience of co-supervising two PhD theses, completed at the University of Alcalá. A native Spanish speaker, Dr Gloria Nogueiras is also fluent in English and speaks some French, German and Italian.
