MIUC & UWL at the University of Cadiz International Summer School

MIUC lecturers Dr Juho Ahava, Dr Guilherme Curi and Dr Murilo Branco joined Dr Bamo Nouri (University of West London) at the University of Cadiz International Summer School in Jerez (13–17 July).

The summer school, themed Political Communication, Artificial Intelligence and Social Media: Global Strategies and Digital Narratives, brought together participants from across the globe, including Spain, Uganda and India.

  • Dr Ahava opened the programme with a session on Visual Communication, Rhetoric and Identity
  • Dr Curi explored algorithms, data and audience targeting
  • Dr Branco analysed political narratives across Instagram, X and TikTok
  • Dr Nouri examined social media influence through case studies of footballers, celebrities and political figures

A great example of MIUC–UWL collaboration in action, contributing to international academic exchange and global learning.

We are a personalised learning environment where support begins the moment a student enters the building. We often say we are a thermostat, not a thermometer—we actively shape a welcoming, international community where the student voice is heard and acted upon. This is a safe campus where individuals are known, supported, and challenged to grow.

As a partner of the University of West London, MIUC offers UK degrees taught in English within an environment that combines academic rigour with wellbeing and real-world relevance. Our approach reflects UWL’s identity as the “Career University”, where education is closely aligned with industry and future employability.

The conference also highlighted key strategic priorities that resonate strongly with MIUC’s direction: strengthening student support systems, embedding sustainability, enhancing academic quality through reflective practice, and developing innovative pathways such as AI-focused programmes and experiential learning models.

Ultimately, the message was clear: education is no longer about knowledge alone. It is about preparing individuals to navigate complexity, lead responsibly, and adapt continuously.

At MIUC, we remain committed to this vision.

Because we are not a factory producing degrees.
We are a community shaping people.

And as we often say: MIUC is with you for life.
