Guilherme Curi, PhD
Dr Guilherme Curi is a sociologist and communication scholar with over a decade of experience in university teaching and interdisciplinary research. He holds a PhD in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where his dissertation explored the political thought and diasporic narratives of Arab-Brazilian intellectuals.
He also earned a Master’s degree in Sociology from University College Dublin (UCD), focusing on the cultural and migratory roots of popular music in the 20th century. His academic work spans International Relations, Political Communication, Migration Studies, and Digital Media, with a strong emphasis on postcolonial and transnational perspectives. Recently, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Brazil’s National Institute of Science and Technology in Information Disputes and Sovereignty (INCT/DSI), where he researched platform governance, disinformation, and democratic resilience from a Global South perspective.
Dr Curi has taught courses such as Communication and Politics, Political Theory, and Cultural Studies at leading Brazilian universities. He is also a co-founder of the Migration Research Symposium, a key academic forum in Latin America, and actively contributes to international research networks.
