Practical information for non-EU applicants

Who Needs a VISA?

Anyone who is not an EU passport holder will need a student visa to study in Spain. While most requirements are fairly similar across countries, it’s important that you confirm the exact details with the Spanish Embassy or Consulate where you plan to apply. MIUC will provide you with the official information sheet issued by the relevant diplomatic office, but please note that requirements can occasionally change at short notice.

Important for international students
According to current Spanish immigration guidelines, all student visa applications must be submitted at least two months before the start of your course. We strongly encourage you to plan ahead and begin the process early to avoid unnecessary delays.

What Documents Do You Need?

To apply for a student visa to study in Spain, you’ll need to prepare specific documents. Requirements may vary slightly depending on your country of residence, so always confirm with the Spanish Embassy or Consulate where you’ll apply. Our admissions team (admissions@miuc.org) is also here to help.

Key documents usually include

A completed visa application form, a valid passport, proof of financial means (around €1,200 per month), private health insurance approved in Spain, a recent medical certificate, a criminal record check, your official MIUC admission letter, and proof of accommodation.

Plan ahead

Applications must be submitted at least two months before your course begins.

Timeline

If you submit all your supporting documents together with your application, your visa can often be processed in as little as one month. Be sure to check in advance whether any of your documents need to be apostilled or legalised, so there are no last-minute surprises.
