Throughout the duration of the programme, you will acquire a comprehensive grasp of diverse theories and methodologies to assess and enact marketing strategies. You will cultivate the capacity for self-reflection, appraising both your own and others' professional practices, alongside fostering independent learning skills that aid in plotting your future growth.

There are many reasons for joining a foundation year course; you may not have the exact subjects or grades at A level to meet the entry requirements, you may have been living abroad or want to change direction with your career. Whatever your starting point, the foundation year offers a firm grounding in the skills and knowledge that you will need to get the most from your studies and thrive at University. Successful completion of the foundation year allows you to progress straight onto Level 4 of this course.


Level 3

Fall Semester

Introduction to Business: During this module you will gain a basic knowledge and understanding of business organisations and the way they operate in the UK economy.

Recording Business Transactions: During this module you will cover the methods of bookkeeping and financial accounting used by organisations to record their financial transactions.

Data Handling and ICT: You will develop skills and confidence in the use and application of numerical data and analysis.  You will also prepare, present and process data using business software.


Spring Semester

Managing People and Systems: In the course of this management module you will explore people management within business structures and how they lead to the fulfilment of business goals. You will learn about recruitment, different personalities, team dynamics, people assessment systems and understand basic theories of motivation and leadership.

Personalised Learning: The Personalised Learning module is intended to equip you with the study skills needed to successfully progress onto level 4, the first year of undergraduate study. Tutor group sessions are an integral part of the module, where you will consolidate your learning and frame it in the context of your subject area. The module will focus on various aspects of study skills, such as those skills related to reading and writing, learning approaches, problem-solving techniques, critical thinking, researching, referencing, plagiarism, legal research and time management.

Study Skills for Success: This module will enable you to read critically, present an argument, and distinguish between the quality and suitability of materials. It will prepare you to use and evaluate a range of evidence sources throughout your degree.

Level 4

Fall Semester

Principles of Marketing: In this module, you will explore the products desired by customers and techniques for communicating product advantages and easily accessible sales venues to customers. This will lead to an appreciation of the significance of ensuring customer satisfaction and excelling in this aspect over competitors.

Professional Skills: Within this module, you will acquire the ability to delineate academic writing competencies and presentation aptitude. You will demonstrate efficient collaboration within a group to accomplish tasks (teamwork proficiency) and exhibit adeptness in verbal and written communication pertinent to the business milieu. Furthermore, you will replicate the significance of business decorum and underscore the significance of regulations and principles within an organisation.

Principles of Digital And Social Media Marketing: You will receive an introduction to digital marketing and its influence on the field of marketing. Exploring the online market landscape, you will engage in micro-level analysis and delve into the broader macro environment of digital marketing. The module will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of digital marketing strategy and equip you with the skills to effectively utilize digital marketing and social media tools for crafting impactful digital encounters.

Workplace Employability Skills: The module's emphasis lies in readying you for the professional sphere and furnishing you with the competencies essential for securing employment and performing proficiently within a professional setting.

Entry Requirements:

Mature applicants (aged 21+): If you lack the stipulated qualifications but possess pertinent work experience, you are encouraged to apply. Your application will be assessed on an individual basis.

Entry to Level 5 (year 2): To enter the second year of this course directly, you should demonstrate suitable knowledge and experience. For instance, you are an excellent candidate if you hold 120 undergraduate credits at Level 4 or a CertHE in a related field.

Entry to Level 6 (year 3): To directly access the third year of this course, you must exhibit fitting knowledge and experience. For instance, you are an ideal candidate if you possess 240 undergraduate credits (at Levels 4 and 5), a DipHE, Foundation Degree, or HND in a related field.

High School Certificate: You are eligible to apply if you have completed high school education. If you have studied part of a degree at another university or accredited higher education institution, you can apply for a credit transfer.

Proof of English Proficiency*: You must provide proof of English proficiency if you have not previously studied in an English speaking school or country. We accept the following tests and minimum scores:

You must register for your courses during the first week of the semester. Merely not attending classes later in the semester does not exempt you from your financial or academic obligations for courses in which you have previously enrolled. If you want to drop one or more courses, you must officially de-register for them at the Student Services.
